Montana Elk and Deer
ARCHERY
Season opens (Archery Elk, Mule Deer,
Whitetail Deer, Antelope) the first week of September and runs through the
middle of October, six week long season. This is one of the most exciting
times to hunt Elk. Cold nights bring the bulls into rut and they can be
bugled into close range. Elk and other big game animals have not been
pressured by other hunters and can be found at lower elevations following
their normal patterns. Exceptional trophies are taken during archery season.
Bulls are often bugled to within 30 yards or less. Weather conditions at
this time of year are relatively mild and ideal for hunting. We have years
of bow hunting experience and our guides are bow hunters who know what it
takes to get you close to the game. Shot opportunity on Elk runs very high
on this hunt.
RIFLE
Season opens the last week of October
and runs until Sunday after Thanksgiving, 5 weeks long. We have 4, 6 day hunts out of the lodge and 2-3 / 7 day pack in hunts during this time. We
have one of the best populations of Elk in Montana. The forest fires of 2000
in this area (Bitterroot) have given wildlife some of the most abundant feed
in decades. Population of game is at an all time high. Unlike other areas
Mule Deer in this area have rebounded. This is one of the few states you get
to hunt Mule Deer during the rut!. We have a special draw area for trophy
Mule Deer. This is possibly the best area in Montana for a 30 inch Mule
Deer. Shot opportunity in last 2 years over 90% at mature Mule Deer bucks.
Great trophy potential for both Elk and Deer. Don’t miss out on this hunt.
Now is the time!. Five years may be too late!
